Chiaroscuro
Frozen Perspective
Constraints Used: Charcoal, Drawing Paper, Pencil, Spotlight, Kneaded Eraser
Size: 18x24
Reflection: For this project we chose objects that reflected us in a way and used a form of still art to mimic the shadows that would appear when we put a spotlight on the objects. We practiced how to create images out of the shadows. When we started I didn't know how it would turn out, I was skeptical about what objects to choose. Though as the project progressed I started seeing how everything started to slowly come together. In the end I am proud of how it turned out.

Acrylic Gel Transfer
Flying Through Rough Times
Constraints Used: Acrylic Gel, Canvas, Paint, Brush,
Size: 10x10
Reflection: In order to complete this project we printed out a picture with a Xerox printer that spoke to us or that we could connect with. Then we put acrylic gel on our pictures and dipped them in water. We did that so we could get rid of the excess paper and keep the image we wanted. Then we pasted our picture onto our canvas and created whatever design that came into our heads. I thought this project was very enjoyable because it gave us a lot of freedom. Through this project I was able to learn that even if you make a mistake you can still turn it into a positive advantage.

Pastel Portraiture
Balance
Constraints Used: Drawing paper, Chalk "soft pastels", Photograph/Reference
Size: 14x8
Reflection: For this project we picked a photograph/reference to draw using soft pastels. Through this process we learned to strengthen our shading skills, explore the art of chalk pastels, and envision and critique reflect. The reason I chose this drawing is because at the time I wanted to portray how there is always bad and evil. As a result there always needs to be a balance.

Music Painting
You & Me By: Lifehouse
Constraints Used: Charcoal, Acrylic Paint
Size: 17x24
Reflection: For this painting we had to choose a song that spoke to us. Then we did many layers to create our backgrounds, which was a mix of various washes. Afterwards we put lyrics and an image that we thought would fit the piece of music we chose. This song speaks to me because I feel like when you like someone time doesn't exist, the only thing that really matters is the two of you.
